• Conquering The Fear Of Speaking

What is it that makes some people so scared to speak, and others so bold? People are afraid to speak for many reasons. If you look at what most people are afraid of, you will find that they have a fear of being ridiculed, or that their speech will not be well received by the audience.

Those who have been successful speakers and managers know that fear is not the reason for this fear. What they realize is that fear is a negative reaction to an unpleasant situation. Fear can be overcome with strength of character and education.

When fear begins to take hold, the speaker must break out of his or her shell and speak to the fears of the audience. It's one thing to talk about the obstacles and roadblocks along the way, but it's another to get over the hump and allow the audience to see what the big obstacles are in front of them.

In order to conquer the fear of speaking, you must go deeper into the matter. And that deeper level must be expressed in an authentic way. This means that you need to pick up the telephone and speak to a person who is living in that situation.

Have you ever seen a father or mother who knew nothing about your job and yet knew all about your background and the things that concern you. They would gush about how proud they were of you and how they knew that you could do no wrong. Could they be speaking from an actual experience that had happened to them? Yes, but do you believe that they really feel what they are saying?

The reason such children and adults are allowed to share their thoughts and experiences is because of the work they do for themselves. But, what is the value of their knowledge? They learned it from someone who knows how to share.

For the same reason, self development can offer much, and it can be acquired through seminars and workshops. Some of the best information I have learned has come from education that was offered at these workshops. I was able to receive more knowledge from the course than I did from any other course that I ever took.

What I learned was not just from the original instructions, but I also learned a lot of the unique information that I needed. A seminar offered my seminar group some insight into how to act in situations that they may encounter. It was always enlightening to learn the things we have not learned from the conventional training.

What makes these workshops very valuable is that when certain questions were posed, the group was given answers that they had never considered before. That's the thing about seminars: They teach us something we never thought of before, sometimes a little at a time.

One of the most important and life changing techniques that I learned in a seminar was the truth of true praise. When we are praised for doing what we've done, it gives us the belief that we can do what we set our minds to. It is also a great motivator.

Now, the important thing to remember is that the more courage you get into the act of speaking, the more courage you will feel in addressing those things that will prevent you from doing what you set out to do. If you let fear of speaking go, you will find that you will become stronger.

The more fear you can conquer, the more confidence you will have to live each day with. That's why it is so important to give yourself and the world the gift of speaking in a confident manner.
